ABOUT Over the last few decades, many towns in Southern Italy have experienced a migration of locals from their ancestral homes to more modern areas of the villages. This is done through several initiatives, most notably the 1-Euro Houses program.

CAMMARATA (AG)
In September 2022, I travelled to Sicily, Italy, to learn more about the initiatives. During my expedition, I had the opportunity to visit a vibrant village in the province of Agrigento called Cammarata. While exploring the area, I met a local architect named Martina, the founder of Streetto. In collaboration with the Municipality of Cammarata and the local community, Streetto is working to attract potential new residents to the historic centre by showcasing its unique culture and beauty.

THE HOUSE I was Impressed by Streetto's ambitions and the region's architecture and history, so I purchased a house in Cammarata’s historic San Vito neighbourhood. The three-level house overlooks the church of Saint Vitus Martyr and the Sicilian landscape. I intend to renovate the property and repurpose it as a guesthouse.
